Back when Warren Bennett still worked at Anjel Syndicate, there was a neat series that he wrote on a weekly basis called Game Travels. Game Travels was a narrative, blog-like series that he started where he would examine different games (or even a series) and post about his adventures in them. In some ways, it was kind of like a walkthrough in that it would take you from one part of the game to the next, but the way he wrote it was very creative and well done. Yet, the series has remained untouched for over a year, but it is about to receive a revival.
Warren approached me a couple weeks back and told me about his desire to revive the series. He had really enjoyed writing it and it had garnered a decent following on the site, so he was keen on seeing if he could bring it back. Now that he was getting his life together (as mentioned on the podcast on Episode GG 02-07), he wants to kick things off again. We talked back and forth for a while regarding how this would happen and what format this would take, and then we went on to discuss what game we would like to start with.
If the image on this post didn’t give it away yet, we are going to do “Treasure Hunter G,” a J-RPG released on the Super Famicom in 1996 that has yet to be officially translated or released outside of Japan. It should make for a fun series, but I will let Warren introduce that next week.
The actual format we are going to take will be to alternate posts. For this game, I will be writing the posts of the actual “travels” through the game and Warren will be writing posts every-other week that talk about trivia from the game, discuss lore, features musical scores, and anything else he believes deserves to be written about. It should make for a lot of fun!
Meanwhile, this series will be mirrored between Allahweh‘s Domain, Random Thoughts, My Dead Heroes, and Anjel Syndicate.
So, stay tuned, folks!
