For the longest time, fans of the Mega Man franchise were using “Rockman Xover” as an example of how weak of a company Capcom had become. They claimed that of all the things they could have been working on, they had canceled “Mega Man Legends 3,” canned “Mega Man Universe,” and now they were producing this half-rate game for mobile devices that had hardly any gameplay to it. Indeed, all you did was walk in a straight line, attacking enemies, until you got to an incredibly easy boss.
Heck, two people reproduced this game in less than a day via Flash!
Well, dear fans, Capcom has heard your cries because, as of January 29, the game has been put on indefinite ice and may very well never be released in North America.
Chris Svensson, the company’s Senior VP, said that ”Based upon the largely negative feedback from MM fans, I’ve requested that we place any Americas release on hold for the time being. We will revisit at a later date.”
Whether this is good news or not is up to you to decide. Sure, it’s one less game we might see from them, but in its own way it does mean that they are listening to fan opinion!
Thanks for pointing this out, Protodude!

Better a crappy game gets canceled than sees the light of day. At least here in the USA…
I read that some people are afraid that if fans DON’T want to see a game like this, it will mean Capcom won’t want to put out more Mega Man games over here, but ultimately I think that since SFxMM did very well in terms of downloads, it simply means we don’t want crappy games, LOL.
