Ah, a new year and a new type of video series!
Having already done videos on older games in the past, and having a passion for retro gaming, I thought I would go ahead and make an official designation for these types of playthroughs – “Retro Play.” Had I thought of this last year, I would have used it as a tag for my plays of “BS Zelda,” “Sky Blazer,” and “Act Raiser,” but rather than dwell on the past I figure it is fitting to kick off a new series under this title!
“Crusader of Centy” was released in 1994 for the Sega Genesis and is an action/RPG that really takes advantage of the system’s hardware. Many consider the game to be a Zelda clone, yet Atlus ultimately did a great job focusing on RPG elements and fun gameplay and, even if you can see the Zelda influence in this game (it is quite obvious), I think it deserves more than being classified as such. It is a game that I played when I was much younger, but sadly never finished. Thus, I am looking forward to playing through it for you guys.
This first part of the series focuses on getting accustomed to the game and playing through the first couple areas (up to where the hero, whom I aptly named Link, gets a spell cast on him to where he can communicate with plants and animals, but not people). I hope you enjoy it! =^.^=
This series is being done by my site in association with Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty, so be sure to check out those sites sometime too!

—- You’re reading the game for us??? GREAT!
—- Oh goodness the dude’s name is “Link” too?? Cmon now…lol…at least give the dude a different name.
—- I don’t get why I like Zelda clones more than Zelda itself. =(
—- “Bow wow wow yippee yo yippee yay doggy dog definitely in the…HOUSE. Hey. A long time ago you promised to rap some Regulators, Jessica. I’m still waiting for that. =)
—- Ah, you just gotta love this town music….
—- Man oh man I love these graphics….
—- Can’t have a Zelda-clone without cutting grass for coins and stuff, right?
—- Boy, I’m sure you wish you can cut grass faster…
—- I agree with you, the outdoor music is pretty nice. It has enough variety so that it remains catchy.
—- That sword throw move sounds more like electricity charging than anything else, although it appears to be effective.
—- I’m happy that it’s been forever since you’ve played it and you don’t know where to go. Makes for more entertaining watching.

Sometimes the reason the clones are more fun for us is simply because the clones add on to the ideas of the original title and thus can be “better.” Not all clones are better by any means, but they are taking a system that works well and adding their own spin to it. This is why I like Neutopia and Neutopia II so much on the TG-16, even though they are clones as well.
The graphics are pretty high end for the Genesis and the music is very catchy. This game is a good example of a gem from the 16/32 bit era of gaming, and sadly is a game that a lot of people did not see when it came out.
Do you like me reading the game to you? I wasn’t sure how that’d turn out – I guess it depends if my narrative flair is enjoyable or not, LOL!
And…I just heard Regulators again on the radio the other day!
Sure, maybe one day I will rap it some
Maybe you said this in the video, if so I’m sorry but — this game came out for the Genesis in America??
Yes, yes, read away! Just like how you read the books in Witcher!

Yes, it sure did come out in the U.S.! In Europe it was released as “Soliel” though, so they had totally different titles.
And alright, if you like the narration, I will try to keep at it!
