Let’s Play

This is it! The eighth and final part of our journey!

In this final installment in the Retro Play series on “Crusader of Centy,” we stubbornly continue to kill monsters despite the warning of God, yet we manage to figure out why monsters exist in the world and attempt to put a stop to it. The whole process is ultimately ironic with violence being frowned upon and yet we continue to destroy creatures we don’t understand in order to, hopefully, bring about peace.

Perhaps humanity is just too stubborn to ever learn!

This has been an awesome game for me to play and I hope all of you had a lot of fun watching it!

A new Retro Play series is coming in April of 2013!

Get ready for a new adventure through a classic game, hosted by Allahweh’s Domain and associated with Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty!

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel!

We are nearing the home stretch of the game here as Part VII gets underway with us heading back into the volcanic mountains. Here, we travel to the past in order to meet and defeat the Puppet Master and, after that, travel to the animal village near the beach to see a pivotal moment in its past.

Is Link going to learn from the past or continue to slaughter monsters despite God’s warning?

I guess we will find out in Part VIII, which will wrap up the saga!

Another retro double-header weekend!

Now that we understand that traveling to any area that the tornado is present in will bring you to an unspecified point in that location’s history, we follow the cyclone out into the Camellia Desert where we are able to visit the ancient civilization that Dorothy (Haha! Ok…Atlus was just silly with that name) mentioned previously. It seems we are meant to gain more insight into the past and why it is that humans have such prejudices, and yet we seem to learn little from our visit to Heaven because even now we find ourselves slaying monsters.

I guess humanity is just stubborn in the end!

Things are heating up as we work our way towards the game’s conclusion, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Oh, and as before, please check out my awesome affiliates, Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty!

So, it seemed like it was God that had posed as the fortune teller at the beginning and cursed us by taking away our ability to speak to humans, but apparently the point was for us to learn about harmony between species rather than bringing more death into the world (and even the heavens!). Now, we must figure out what God wants for us to learn, and we begin by heading back to Iris, which is now covered in snow!

Our journey will now take us back into the past to various points in this world’s history, and maybe we will be able to set some things right after all!

These next couple of episodes are shorter than the previous ones because I am experimenting with lengths. So far, I personally prefer the longer episodes *shrugs*.

Stay tuned for future videos to find out!

Our Retro Play weekend double-header concludes as Link’s adventure continues as we explore the sunken depths of the temple and then make our way up the Tower of Babel and into the paradise above…Only, it doesn’t quite turn out to be the idyllic place you might hope for! Still, we meet God and he/she/it explains to us the reason for the sundering of the world’s languages and expresses disappointment in how humans have treated the other creatures – monsters and animal alike!

Quite deep!

I also apologize for the audio being low in volume. I played with the settings in FRAPS and experimented with multichannel audio, but that produces seemingly more quiet audio for whatever reason. So, turn up your volume and fear not – this has been noted!

Yes, it’s another long video, so get your popcorn, settle in, and enjoy! :)

Oh, and be sure to check out my affiliates, Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty!  Thanks for hosting this there, guys!

Poor Link still cannot talk to animals yet, but he seems to have adjusted well to his ability to befriend animals to help him on his quest. Even if we aren’t sure what his quest is just yet! So, this time around, we actually win that race against the cheetah and use his abilities to get out of the forest, explore a maze-like desert, visit the famed Tower of Babel (almost an RPG cliche by now!), try the expert part of the training grounds, and visit a frozen castle on an island to the south.

Fun times!

Hopefully pretty soon we will be able to speak to humans again, although in this video we are even transformed into a monster temporarily, which provokes some thought as to whether monsters are evil or if the humans pursuing them are at fault.

This will be a weekend double-header, so stay tuned tomorrow for Part IV!

As we jump back into “Crusader of Centy,” Link’s adventure continues as he searches for the Fortuneteller that took away his ability to speak with humans. However, talking to animals and plants proves beneficial and we begin to assemble our party for our quest – a party full of animals! Fun times!

We make our way past the valley, find an animal village along the shoreline, save a penguin and learn to do some tricky jumping with the aid (and hindrance!) of the wind, journey through a treacherous volcano, and eventually find a cheetah to race! And we even get the second of the three medals we need to get the special sword from the king (not that it matters since, you know, we can’t talk to him or anything!).

This episode features a fun custom song written by Kate Lorimer (“K8-bit,” or @whatkatedoes) that she came up with to capture a fun, retro feel.  She has other custom songs coming down the pipe, but I thought I’d include this sample here to let you guys hear it!

Please keep in mind that this video is being done by my site in association with Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty, so be sure to check them out sometime too!

Enjoy, and do stay tuned for Part 3!

Ah, a new year and a new type of video series!

Having already done videos on older games in the past, and having a passion for retro gaming, I thought I would go ahead and make an official designation for these types of playthroughs – “Retro Play.” Had I thought of this last year, I would have used it as a tag for my plays of “BS Zelda,” “Sky Blazer,” and “Act Raiser,” but rather than dwell on the past I figure it is fitting to kick off a new series under this title!

“Crusader of Centy” was released in 1994 for the Sega Genesis and is an action/RPG that really takes advantage of the system’s hardware. Many consider the game to be a Zelda clone, yet Atlus ultimately did a great job focusing on RPG elements and fun gameplay and, even if you can see the Zelda influence in this game (it is quite obvious), I think it deserves more than being classified as such. It is a game that I played when I was much younger, but sadly never finished. Thus, I am looking forward to playing through it for you guys.

This first part of the series focuses on getting accustomed to the game and playing through the first couple areas (up to where the hero, whom I aptly named Link, gets a spell cast on him to where he can communicate with plants and animals, but not people). I hope you enjoy it! =^.^=

This series is being done by my site in association with Anjel Syndicate and Nerdy But Flirty, so be sure to check out those sites sometime too!

With a total of 22 videos in this extended Let’s Play series, we finally reach the end of the line for “The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.” I was so close to the end this week that I simply decided to stretch out the play session into one 158-minute segment in full HD, and I think it turned out very well. In the end, it is a fitting ending to a very long project!

Despite its ups and downs, the game’s ending does a good job wrapping up everything and having it all make sense. Yes, in the end some of what happens leaves you feeling as if it was all for nothing, yet the game is more of a “slice of life” story than anything else. Geralt is no hero – far from it – so it makes sense that things wrap up and life goes on as it does.

Still, this does not mean that the ending part of the game has no surprises. We meet an old friend of my friend Alexander (@TheTwelve) and we face an enemy we were fairly sure we might not encounter in this game – an enemy that proves to be the final boss.

So, with this finally out of the way, I feel as if I’ve completed something good. Even if this is not the most-watched series on this game out here, I feel it is the most well-done and the most complete. It is something I can take pride in!

Meanwhile, if you want to suggest a future project, do go ahead and leave me a message. I’m not immediately on the market to pick up something else, but I will definitely give it due consideration.

Thanks for following this through all 22 episodes, and I look forward to more extended gaming with you guys! ^.^
