This week on the show, my friend Ken Imbody joins us to talk about his latest obsession: “XCOM: Enemy Unknown.” We also talk about a few other topics too, including “Guild Wars 2″ and the recent purchase of LucasArts by Disney.
Ken is an avid role-player and gamer and an all-around nerd in many ways. He’s a fun person to pick his brain with comic book questions, so perhaps in a future episode (Season 3?) he will join us to talk about comics!
If you have any questions for Ken, feel free to send them to me and I will be sure to pass them along.

This week I asked my friend Willis Buckles, who goes by Gorganis in most online circles, to come and be a guest on the show. Willis and I met early last year through RIFT and have kept in touch ever since and it has been a great pleasure to know him. He is a supporter of the blog and the podcast, so I figured that his insight into a few matters, as well as his enjoyable personality, would be a good fit for the podcast.
We touch on quite a few topics this time starting out with our mutual feelings regarding “Star Wars: The Old Republic” and how most, if not all, of the luster has since worn off. Likewise, we express our potential concerns regarding “The Elder Scrolls: Online” (expected to launch in 2013) and whether that game will potentially fall into the same trap as TOR. Then, after the intermission, we go into a bit of depth talking about “Diablo III,” due to release on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
The musical scores from this week’s show were hand-picked by Willis and are a good fit.

Next week we will have another good friend of mine and fellow Anjel Syndicate writer, Mike Charves, on the show to discuss wargames, strategy games, simulations, table-top role-play, and the upcoming “Secret World” MMORPG. I think it will be a good show and something to look forward to!
Until I received an email about it, I didn’t even think about today being Star Wars Day…You know, “May the Fourth be with you?” But I received a request to write a special piece related to Star Wars for Iron Man Mode, and after giving that request some thought I finally settled on something to do.
Naturally, since we had done “Star Wars: The Old Republic” for charity, I thought a good write up and review of the current model of the game might be the way to go. Now, you might think my opinions are totally favorable, but you’d be quite wrong!
Last week I had the great honor and pleasure to have Tim the “Mega Retro Geek” as the very first guest on The Gaming Goddess podcast.
This week, I follow suit with Richard “Akivav” Woreth, a good friend of mine that I met through “Star Trek Online” and have kept up with ever since. Richard and I talk about the recent 1.2 patch for “Star Wars: The Old Republic” as well as what update 1.3 might contain. We also just randomly talk about role-play and our thoughts and experiences with the game thus far.
It was a great pleasure to have Richard on the show this week and I do look forward to future shows with him.
This week I also had the great pleasure on April 18 of appearing as a guest on the “No Prisoners No Mercy” podcast and will appear in the upcoming 107th episode of their show. Fran and Julie are outstanding people and it was very fun to be on the show with them. I highly recommend you check out their site at:
A quick note about Iron Man Mode: If you donate $15-20 to Child’s Play via the donations page, I will gladly make a special “one-off” video of a game of your choice (ideal candidates might be NES, SNES, etc. type games that are platformers or action-oriented), and if you were to donate upwards of $50 I would probably make a dedicated video series or blog for you!
Next week I will be out of town for a training exercise with the National Guard for most of the week and therefore the next podcast will be on the first week of May.
Things are still going strong for my Jedi Consular in “Star Wars: The Old Republic” (at least the fact that she has yet to die and is nearly level 20 now!). I’m quite happy to finally be off of Coruscant with her (having now run that planet with two characters) and on to somewhere different. Taris is quite a neat little world and I think far too many players are overly critical of it. I actually like what I’ve played on it so far and it really has some breathtaking scenery to look at as you explore and kill baddies.
Our adventures in “Star Wars: The Old Republic” continue, this time with the final portion of Coruscant. Indeed, in this segment I get through the final quests on that planet and get ready to move on to our next destination – Taris. The final boss I had to face in my main storyline was a bit tricky, and I did nearly die, but in the end my awesome prowess overcame him…
…Or maybe it was just the fact I was a bit over-leveled?
You can read my full article over at Iron Man Mode. Keep in mind that this is being done to raise money for Child’s Play while having fun, so if the mood strikes, please feel free to donate (donations of $5.00 or more give you the chance to win a free copy of “Terraria” for the PC!).
My play of “Star Wars: The Old Republic” for Iron Man Mode continues with an adventure through The Works on Coruscant. This post is a bit shorter than the previous and upcoming ones due to the fact that for the Jedi Consular this zone is basically one you simply pass through en route to the Old Jedi Temple. Yet, despite that, I did complete the side-quests in the zone and also tracked down the datacron as well.
My Iron Man Mode play of “Star Wars: The Old Republic” continued this past week as I took my Jedi Consular/Shadow through the Justicar Territory on Coruscant. The story is quite interesting, and I’m really enjoying each of the interactive sequences with the Noetikons (and that bit with the Noetikon of Questions was pretty nifty), so this was a fun session. There were a couple sections where I got a bit worried as my companion got down to nearly zero health, but we managed to pull through and live to play again.
This week, our adventures in “Star Wars: The Old Republic” continue as my Jedi Consular/Shadow, Teerlanai, and her companion, Qyzen Fess, make their way deep into the Black Sun’s Territory as they search for the Noetikon of Light. This area was slightly challenging, but nothing that my character and her companion couldn’t handle. The datacron hidden here was a bit annoying to get, requiring a decent amount of jumping a la “Pitfall,” but thankfully I managed to get it without a lot of trouble.
Remember that this is being done not just for fun but also to raise money for Child’s Play. So, if you like what you see and want to help out, head on over to our donation page and give what you can!
The journey of Teerlanai continues over at Iron Man Mode this week with her efforts to defeat the Migrant Merchants’ Guild in the Old Galactic Market while searching for the Noetikons – ancient relics that might hold the key to curing Master Yuon Par‘s affliction.
So far, Teer is alive and well – let’s hope she stays that way!
All donations help keep this site and its projects alive!

I have an article I’m working on that I wanted to post today. Instead, I decided to post it tomorrow. (Should’ve went up Monday. I wanted to take a look at it and rewrite it.) For those of you that aren’t ‘in the know,’ Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox today. Called the Xbox One, it […]
Yesterday I participated in a streaming session with the ever awesome Jessica “Allahweh” Brown. She played Bionic Commando and we discussed the game (and other things) at great length. She asked me which game I wanted to have on this show awhile back, and Bionic Commando was at the top of my list. We […]
